Mouser now stocks Digi XBee 3 Global LTE Cat 4 smart modems. Engineered to swiftly allow higher bandwidth cellular connectivity and provide easy-to-add-on functionality for various OEM devices or IoT gateways, modules are an excellent fit for designers, OEMs or solution providers looking for the flexibility to switch between multiple frequencies and wireless protocols easily. Based on the latest LTE standards, these cost-competitive modules are configured and controlled from a central platform, have built-in security and privacy features, and include standard Digi XBee API frames and AT commands, making the modules simple to set up, configure and test when updating functionality.

The smart modems are based on the Thales PLS83-W cellular chipset and are excellent for applications that need variable bandwidth usage between 100MB and 1GB per month. Antenna options include two U.FL cellular diversity antennas and one U.FL GNSS Embedded Bluetooth antenna, and the modems use GNSS and 2G and 3G fallback for accurate location services. The modems supply a direct USB option for easy PPP integration and support MicroPython programmability and MQTT for networking with Microsoft Azure and AWS. Further connectivity includes Bluetooth LE for beaconing and connectivity to the Digi XBee mobile app for local configuration.

Part of the company's diverse XBee Ecosystem, the XBee 3 can also harness the power of the Digi Remote Manager platform to assist in bringing together a multitude of dispersed IoT devices into a single, dynamic, intelligent network that can quickly deploy, monitor and diagnose thousands of mission-critical devices from a single point of command on a desktop, tablet or phone. To control and protect against new and evolving cyber threats and security concerns, the modems also have built-in Digi TrustFence security, identity and data privacy features that empower users to readily integrate device security, device identity and data privacy capabilities.

Digi XBee 3 modules are offered in a 30.48mm x 43.18mm footprint with a Digi XBee 20-pin through-hole. The modules are ideal for monitoring systems, digital signage and smart agriculture. The devices can be ordered with or without a SIM card, depending on the need. XBee 3 modems are supported by the XBee 3 Global LTE Cat 4 development kit and XBee XBIB-C development boards for development and evaluation. All modules are FCC and end-device-certified with major wireless carriers.
