High-spec and space-saving DIN rail power supplies reimagined

RECOM launches its new high-spec, space-saving AC/DC DIN rail power supplies. A breakthrough range of economic, three-phase DIN rail power supplies has been introduced by RECOM in collaboration with their recent acquisition, power specialist LECO.

The RACPRO1 range includes parts rated at 240W, 480W, and 960W output in ultra-compact, class-leading widths of 43mm, 52mm, and 80mm, respectively. The design teams have achieved outstanding electrical efficiency with advanced thermal management, therefore not requiring spacing on each side of the parts for cooling, helping to maximize packing density in the overall system.

The high efficiency, up to 97.1%, permits operation at full power up to +60C with only convection cooling and down to -40C, lower than most competing parts. A particular feature is that all versions can deliver up to 20% more power at +45C ambient and 50% more power for five seconds, which is outstanding for powering capacitive or high-inrush loads without having to over-specify the power supply.

Inputs are 320-575VAC three-phase or 430-850VDC, while the 240W part will also operate on two-phase 350-575VAC. Output of the RACPRO1-T240 is regulated 24VDC, adjustable 24-28VDC, while the RACPRO1-T480 and RACPRO1-T960 feature a choice of adjustable 24V or 48V (48-56VDC) outputs.

The parts are designed for extended operating life and are manufactured in Europe. Reliability is improved by high levels of input surge and output return voltage immunity, to suit industrial environments and motor or inductive loads. No-load power consumption is lower than that of other similar products, a DC-OK signal is provided, and the 480W and 960W parts have a CV/CC output characteristic, allowing battery charging and output paralleling.

The range complies with the DIN rail mechanical standard EN 60715, connections are 25° tool-less push fit, and the parts snap onto standard DIN rails with no tooling needed.

Certifications held include IEC/EN/UL 62368-1, IEC/EN/UL/CSA 61010-1 and IEC/EN/UL 61010-2-201 for safety. The parts comply with EMC standards EN 61000-6-4 Class B and EN61000-6-2 for emissions and immunity.

Applications for these new AC/DCs include industry, renewables, power distribution, test and measurement, infrastructure and more.

Michael Peters, business and product manager, commented: "With the innovative and distinctive design of the RACPRO1 series, we have simplified the usability of DIN rail devices while simultaneously setting a new benchmark with an efficiency of up to 97.1%."

Parts include a three-year warranty.
