Mouser Electronics, Inc. now stocks the SiWx917 Wi-Fi 6 Plus BLE 5.4 wireless SoC from Silicon Labs. Designed explicitly for battery-operated, low-power wireless IoT devices, including Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, Matter and IP networking for secure cloud connectivity, the SiWx917 is the company's lowest-power Wi-Fi 6 SoC.

The SoC is comprised of an integrated MCU application subsystem, improved security engine, peripherals, power management subsystem and an ultra-low power Wi-Fi 6 plus Bluetooth LE 5.4 wireless CPU subsystem that supports Matter over Wi-Fi and Wi-Fi 6 Target Wake Time (for extended battery life in multi-year operational devices like smart sensors and locks).

Built using standard communication IP, Matter allows wider compatibility and connectivity with a multitude of IoT devices and protocols using a single access point. The single, fully integrated, Matter-ready SiWx917 was developed to help radically increase battery life and lower energy consumption in Wi-Fi IoT networking (up to 50% lower consumption than other competing Wi-Fi 6 and Bluetooth LE combination SoCs) while delivering more computing, faster AI/ML acceleration and robust security to run all wireless stacks and multiple customer applications, all on one chip.

At the heart of the device's application subsystem is a 32-bit ARM Cortex-M4F running up to 180MHz, embedded SRAM, FLASH, AI/ML accelerator and Sensor Hub dedicated to peripheral and application-related processing. The Wi-Fi 6 and Bluetooth LE 5.4 wireless CPU subsystem comprises baseband digital signal processing, an analogue front end, a 2.4GHz RF transceiver, an integrated power amplifier, and a multi-threaded processor (ThreadArch) specified up to 160MHz to run the wireless and networking stacks on independent threads. The device also supports OFDMA, MU-MIMO, BSS colouring and other features that facilitate higher bandwidth and enhanced network efficiency in congested environments, allowing faster, more stable network coverage. For security, the device offers Secure Boot, Secure Trust Zone, and Secure XIP and is PSA Level 2 (PSA-L2) certifiable.

The SiWx917 wireless SoC is offered in a single 7mm x 7mm x 0.85mm 84-pin QFN package. It can be controlled via USART, UART, SPI, SIO, I2C, and I2S interfaces and is ideal for battery-powered devices in smart homes, consumer health and wearables, medical, industrial, retail, Smart buildings and cities and asset tracking. The Si917-PK6031A Pro Kit supports the ultra-low-power SoC.
