Mouser Electronics, Inc. now supplies the SEN6x air quality sensors from Sensirion. Combining multiple sensors in a never-before-seen form factor, the innovative design of the sensors simplifies integration, lowers costs, and allows customisation in design. The air quality sensors decrease time-to-market and cost of ownership for applications like air quality control, smart homes, building automation, variable air volume (VAV) controllers, and air purifiers.
The air quality sensors can measure up to nine environmental parameters (PM1, PM2.5, PM4, PM10, RH, T, VOC Index, NOx Index, CO2 or HCHO). The central component of the SEN6x platform is a miniaturised MEMS-based particulate matter sensing unit that incorporates all the required building blocks for measuring PM1, PM2.5, PM4, and PM10. This chip-scale particulate matter component and patented sheath flow permit the sensors to provide unparalleled dust protection and longevity. The compact sensors measure particulate matter or a comprehensive range of air quality parameters, such as temperature, humidity, volatile organic compounds, nitrogen oxides, CO2, or formaldehyde. By eliminating the need for multiple sensor integrations and complex optimisations, the air quality sensors enable customers to focus on their core competencies and create user-friendly devices. The sensor is suited for applications needing compliance with IAQ standards, such as RESET, WELL Building Standard and California Title 24 Building Energy Efficiency Standards. With an operating temperature range of -10C to +50C, the sensors can operate continuously 24 hours daily for more than ten years.
The SEN6x air quality sensors are supported by the Sensirion SEK-SEN66 evaluation kit, also available from Mouser, which is designed to work with the SEK-SensorBridge sensing kit. The kit enables the user to connect the sensor evaluation kit to a PC and use a GUI to evaluate the device.
