Showcasing high-reliability RF and microwave cables

16-06-2025 | Insulated Wire | Industrial

Insulated Wire Inc. will be exhibiting at the IEEE MTT-S International Microwave Symposium (IMS) from 15th to 20th June.

The company designs and manufactures flexible coaxial cable, semi-rigid coaxial cable, and coaxial cable assemblies (flexible and semi-rigid) to 110GHz, as well as custom composite cables – including same and mixed-signal conductors – and non-RF wire types to 33AWG. All its products are designed for optimal performance in high-quality applications. In addition to customer-specific assemblies, the company is happy to supply bulk cable shipments.

The company will showcase a range of its high-performance coaxial and microwave cables, cable assemblies, and bulk cables. Its products meet the requirements of a wide range of applications from aerospace to telecommunications.

Notably, the exhibition will feature 1mm cable assemblies utilising its series of precision, low-loss coaxial cables, engineered for superior performance in high-frequency applications and operating seamlessly up to 110GHz. This series stands out for its advanced materials and design choices, making it a premier solution for applications that demand high precision and minimal signal loss.

Applications for the 1mm cable assemblies include:

  • High-Frequency Systems: Ideal for telecommunications, satellite communications, and radar systems requiring high bandwidth and precision.
  • Test and Measurement: The 0471's small diameter and millimetre wave performance make it ideal for probe station and VNA test port applications.
  • Defence and Aerospace: Suitable for inside enclosure applications and high-density/multi-port interconnects.
  • Research and Development: A valuable tool for innovative millimetre wave research requiring the highest levels of signal integrity and performance.

Visitors will be able to collect three new product brochures:

  • The High Power Microwave Products catalogue features products for a broad range of both defence and commercial markets. These include telecommunications, data links, satellite systems, airborne electronic warfare and countermeasures, missile systems, UAV applications, avionics and instrumentation, fire control systems, medical electronics, and geophysical exploration.
  • The Re-Flex cable catalogue detailing this premier brand of flexible coaxial cables, designed to provide improved electrical and mechanical performance over traditional hand-formable designs. The Re-Flex™ series is available in diameters of RF085, RF141, RF250, and RF325, each benefiting from a unique lamination process and robust double shield construction. These cables feature a solder-free tin/alloy-plated outer braid, ensuring resilience against micro-fractures through repeated flexing, thereby eliminating common manufacturability issues found in similar RG cables.
  • The latest short-form catalogue, which provides an overview of their complete product offering.

The company's experience across a worldwide customer base has helped develop its capability in the high-power segment, offering ultra-low-loss and high-rated coaxial cable and cable assembly products. It can support applications where high RF power levels need to be reliably transmitted, including EMC/EMI testing, rapid microwave de-frosting, communications, semiconductor manufacturing and defence systems.
