This wireless test collaboration will advance OTA testing

Bluetest, a specialist in reverberation chamber technology testing of wireless devices and test and measurement company Keysight have collaborated to provide what is said to be a simpler and more advanced form of OTA testing.

Over-the-air (OTA) measurements are often used to establish the wireless system performance of wireless-enabled devices and the Keysight UXM Wireless Test Set has now been integrated into Bluetest’s OTA test solutions.

Supporting LTE-A

Bluetest’s Reverberation Test System RTS65 and its measurement software Flow, supports the wireless industry’s requirements for LTE-A. What this means is that whilst standard data connections employ one antenna and one signal, 4G LTE-A uses multiple signals and antennas.

It does this by using Multiple Input Multiple Output (MIMO) technology to combine multiple antennas on transmitters and receivers.

Add more streams

The functional advantages of RTS65 and Flow are it makes it much simpler to add more streams to test protocols.

Bluetest RTS is available with up to eight measurement ports, thereby supporting a UXM solution with, for example, four 2x2 MIMO carriers or two 4x4 MIMO carriers without any external combiners or additional equipment.

Recent enhancements to the UXM Wireless Test Set include support for current LTE-A evolutions like 1.6Gbps data rates and up to 8x4 downlink MIMO & 5CC. The Test Set also supports 2G and 3G technologies which means it is a good option for testing the latest wireless UEs from fundamental Internet-Of-Things devices to very sophisticated smart phones.
