Digital shunt sensor line with 500A series delivers high accuracy

06-12-2024 | Bourns | Power

Bourns, Inc. has released the Riedon Model SSD-500A Series Shunt Sensor – Digital by Bourns with 500A nominal current. The extended electrical rating allows designers to utilise a supply voltage of 24V (15mA typical), allowing them to meet high-accuracy measurement requirements in a wider range of battery-related applications, including large-scale energy storage banks, renewable energy generation infrastructure, industrial motor drives, building automation systems, and EV charging stations.

The series includes advanced digital DC shunt-based current sensors that provide superior accuracy, stability, and electrical isolation in certain harsh industrial environments. The series also features an internal 24-bit ADC that provides plug-and-play simplicity, allowing designers to quickly add high-accuracy current measurements into new designs or retrofit existing ones. These shunt-based sensors also help eradicate the necessity for periodic device calibrations while contributing to more efficient use of power. Furthering their design flexibility, the Model SSD-500A Series is provided in RS-485 and CANbus interface options.
