Mouser now stocks the i.MX 8M Plus applications processors from NXP Semiconductors. These embedded multi-core heterogeneous applications processors are the first in the i.MX family to integrate a dedicated NPU for advanced machine learning inference at the edge in industrial and IoT applications.
These applications processors combine two or four Arm Cortex-A53 cores running at up to 1.8GHz, plus an 800MHz Arm Cortex-M7 core for low-power real-time processing. Using the integrated NPU, the processor simultaneously detects multiple highly complex neural network functions, including human pose and emotion detection, multi-object surveillance, and the recognition of more than 40,000 English words.
The devices provide a high-performance 800 MHz audio DSP for voice and natural language processing. Dual integrated ISPs support two high-definition cameras for real-time stereo vision or a single 12MP resolution camera with HDR and fisheye lens correction. The devices support 2D and 3D graphics to deliver a rich visual HMI experience and can compress multiple video feeds utilising the H.265 or H.264 HD video encoder and decoder for cloud streaming or local storage.
The processors are excellent for surveillance, smart retail applications, robot vision, home health monitors, smart home, smart city, building control, and industrial IoT.
