New loop-powered control unit provides many benefits

13-12-2022 | KROHNE | Test & Measurement

KROHNE provides a powerful new SHD 200 control unit. Its loop-powered display unit functions with all HART values with different measuring pages, supplying LEDs for NAMUR NE 107 signalisation. The many benefits the device provides comprise pH value, pressure, conductivity, temperature, and level measurements.

The control unit offers a second 4…20mA current output for any HART available. This indicates that every HART dynamic variable from any attached HART field device can be mapped on the second current output. The second current output is also functional as a power supply for white backlight and five high-brightness LEDs that provide for NAMUR NE107 signalisation.

The unit includes two solid-state relays for process control. These relays supply capabilities such as a status output, which occurs according to NE 107 signalisation of the sensor, and a limit switch for which any HART dynamic variable is addressable. Also, a system alarm notifies of any system-relevant failure, such as the loss of a HART communication. A sensor cleaning control for less maintenance and test method USP <645> for SMARTPAT COND sensors are also made available by these relays.

For the commissioning of OPTIBAR pressure transmitters, the unit arrives with several functions for convenient commissioning of the field device directly through the control unit. The adjustable parameters include zero point, spa value, offset correction, damping value, and units of measurement. They also comprise specific adjustments for pressure, differential pressure, level, density, and interface applications. Convenient commissioning of OPTIWAVE level transmitters is offered directly through the control unit, including adjustable parameters such as length, tank height, current output variable, and several other parameters.

The control unit makes available internal access to the field device and external access through the HART adapter. The device allows full access to all sensor-specific functions with FDT/DTM (PACTware). It is also ideal for operation in Ex zone 1 with aluminium housing.
