Real-time spectrum analyser features waveguide technology

With a real-time bandwidth of up to 490MHz and a sweep speed of 3THz/s, the Aaronia SPECTRAN V6 Xplorer is the new reference in terms of speed. Equipped with waveguide connections, the analyser allows measurements in the millimetre wave range that are impossible with conventional cables. Waveguides transmit the signal without distortion or loss. They are less susceptible to external disturbances such as electromagnetic interference, which is important in an environment with many electrical devices and radio signals. As a result, the signal remains clean, and the measurements of the spectrum analyser are not distorted.

The company will present real-time spectrum analysers with waveguide technology at the European Microwave Week (EuMW), in Paris.

The analyser sets a new benchmark with measurements up to 140GHz and still offers the advantages of inexpensive USB devices. "We are pleased to present the SPECTRAN V6 Explorer in Paris, a real-time spectrum analyser that sets new standards and is optimally tailored to the needs of our customers," says Thorsten Chmielus, managing director of Aaronia AG. "Our USB real-time spectrum analysers of the SPECTRAN V6 series are the result of continuous development work. They meet the constantly growing demands on modern equipment and take into account the increasing complexity of signals. For us at AARONIA, the future of measurement technology lies in flexible, modular solutions for every application, as we offer them to meet the needs of our customers."

With millimetre waves, as typically used in satellite communication, radar or wireless networks, conventional electrical cables no longer work efficiently. They can distort the signal and usually cause excessive losses. Waveguides, on the other hand, are specially designed to transport such high-frequency signals effectively. This means that the signal received by the spectrum analyser remains practically unchanged.

Radar distance sensors in the automotive sector determine the distance to objects by emitting electromagnetic waves and measuring the time it takes for the reflections to return. These waves travel very fast, almost at the speed of light. With the SPECTRAN V6 real-time spectrum analysers with waveguide technology, these high-frequency and rapidly changing signals can be reliably analysed and evaluated. The new devices are also an attractively priced solution. Thanks to the waveguide connection, the company's real-time spectrum analysers can be connected to your own amplifier and splitter systems according to your requirements using the waveguides that will be available in the future.

It also presents its broadband antenna range to fully exploit the performance of these real-time spectrum analysers. Included here are the brand new PowerLOG horn antennas up to 70GHz as well as the real-time DF solutions based on the improved and further developed IsoLOG DF and tracking antenna. The IsoLOG DF 16-10180, with a frequency range of 1GHz-18GHz, and the IsoLOG DF 16-20400, with a frequency range of 2GHz-40GHz, which are currently under development, will also be on display.
