Mouser now stocks the Microchip Technology ECC204 secure authentication IC. The IC is a cryptographic authentication device with protected storage for private keys, certificates, symmetric keys, or user data. The hardware-based key storage solution supports various secure authentication applications, including ecosystem control, disposables and accessory authentication, symmetric authentication using HMAC keys, and disposable applications with select usage.
The IC offers a robust set of authentication solutions. The device delivers hardware support for asymmetric authentication, including a FIPS186-4 elliptic curve digital signature and NIST standard P-256 elliptic curve support. It also features a high-quality internal NIST SP 800-90A/B/C random number generator, supporting asymmetric key generation. The secure authentication IC provides hardware support for SHA-256 and HMAC, while the device’s field-programmable EEPROM includes a single ECC private key, a single symmetric secret key, and 64-byte user memory. The IC provides an extended industrial temperature range of -40 to +105. This device is provided in a compact eight-pad UDFN, eight-lead SOIC, and three-lead contact package options for design flexibility.
The EV27Y72A Three-Lead Contact mikroBUS socket board supports the ECC204 secure authentication IC. The socket board can be employed with any microcontroller board supporting the MikroElektronika mikroBUS interface. This modular design allows users to reuse the socket board in multiple prototypes and applications. The socket board supplies engineers with an easy and affordable option to configure and test their devices before mass production.
