Smallest subminiature flange mount reed sensors for varied applications

Littelfuse, Inc has released its newest products, the 59155 and 59156, the world's smallest subminiature flange mount reed sensors. The sensors' design delivers compact size, contactless activation, and customisation options, making them appropriate for various tight-spacing applications across different industries.

The company presents the most miniature flange-mount type reed sensor available, measuring just 12.7mm x 9mm x 3mm (0.5" x 0.354" x 0.118") with normally open contacts. The sensors can switch 120VAC/170VDC at 10W. The case design allows mounting with an M2 screw at 0.1Nm torque maximum or adhesive mounting.

The new reed sensors provide a customisable, space-saving design to meet different installation requirements. Contactless activation stops exposure to humidity or dust, improving the end equipment's lifetime.

"We understand the challenges that come with limited space in many applications, which is why we developed one of the world's smallest reed sensors," said Ryan Sheahen, global market manager at Littelfuse. "This extends our leadership in offering (one of the) the broadest and most comprehensive portfolio of magnetic sensing solutions to meet our customers' needs."

The sensors compete with similar-sized products currently available. However, the new sensors are slightly smaller, supplying higher switching capability. They also have a wider operating temperature range of -40C to +105C compared to others that provide -20C to +85C.

The sensors are offered with wires exiting from the left-hand or right-hand side, making them excellent for usage in many applications, including small appliances, major appliances, security and access control, factory automation, process equipment, proximity, and limit sensing, and other IoT proximity sensing applications.

The reed sensors are available in several sensitivity and cable length configurations.
