TDK Corporation has expanded the InvenSense SmartIndustrial sensor platform family. With its support for an extended temperature range of -40C to 105C, this new six-axis IMU is aimed at industrial applications that need extreme stability over temperature and excellent vibration immunity.
The IIM-20670 offers a robust monolithic six-axis IMU, three-axis accelerometer, and three-axis gyroscope, with proven shock robustness and the ability to simultaneously measure all six axes with a current consumption below 10mA under all operating conditions. The device is calibrated over multiple temperature points and offered in a compact QFN 4.5mm x 4.5mm x 1.1mm3 form with wettable flanks that simplify inspection at the end of the assembly line. It also provides programmable digital filters and a 10MHz SPI interface where a CRC-based error-detecting code algorithm can assess data integrity. It contains an accelerometer thermal stability of 1.7µg/C, an accelerometer bias repeatability of 1mg and a programmable output of 64G together with a tilt algorithm that outputs pitch and roll data across the full temperature range. These specifications enable it to offer one of the industry's most stable six-axis tilt outputs, making it excellent for applications that require robust, fast, and accurate tilt or stabilisation performance, such as 5G platforms, industrial tilt modules, industrial/agricultural drones, and more.
"With the introduction of these new thermally stable products with a tilt-ready algorithm, we are helping many industrial segments realise their designs in a quick and efficient manner," said Camilo Delgado, director of Industrial Marketing at InvenSense, a TDK Group company.
"This product delivers uniform performance across all temperatures, creating a robust platform stabilisation application," said Vamshi Gangumalla, director – Software Systems at InvenSense, a TDK Group company.
