Microchip has launched a new family of security add-on chips called the Secure Products Group. The new security chips are dedicated to accessories and disposable authentication for a wide range of industries, including consumer, medical, automotive, server, and data centre.
The security chips offer an easy onboarding process to add secure elements, and they are microcontroller agnostic. The new security chips have a Joint High certification Library, which is done by a third party, and they are cost-effective and low-power solutions for performing symmetric or asymmetric authentication.
One of the key features of the new security chips is the provisioning services provided by Microchip, where they securely program the keys on behalf of the customers. This service significantly reduces the barrier of onboarding customers and lowers the minimum order quantity to 2000 units.
For engineers who want to develop their own system, they can visit microchip.com and use the Trust Platform Design Suite, which includes all the training materials, software, and security change process. Microchip also has a security team, the FES, which is trained on security and is available to support customers on a daily basis.
