Measurement Specialties has released the MS5837-30BA, a new low-power, compact, gel-filled pressure sensor with an I2C bus interface and high resolution of 2mm for depth measurement in various rugged environments. Based on leading MEMS technology, the high-linearity MS5837-30BA pressure sensor features an ultra-low power delta sigma ADC that offers precise 24-bit pressure and temperature values, while using only 0.6µA. With a response time as low as 0.5ms, it offers exceptional long term stability and high measurement performance across a wide pressure range of 0 bar to 30 bar in temperatures from -20C to +85C. The anti-magnetic stainless steel cap and silicone gel protecting the internal electronics make the sensor extremely water resistant. The hermetically-sealed MS5837-30BA is ideal for areas such as adventure or multi-mode watches and can be used in other rugged outdoor devices, such as mobile water-depth measurement systems, dive computers and data-loggers. The I2C bus allows the sensor to interface with almost any microcontroller for easy configuration. It also provides different operating modes to attain high resolution or low power consumption. The MS5837-30BA’s simple communication protocol and internal oscillator eliminate the need for external components. The high resolution temperature output enables the unit to be used in depth measurement systems and thermometer functions without the need for an additional sensor.
