Upwards compatible with the SAM D20 and adding features such as full-speed USB, DMA and high-end timers / counters, Atmel's SAM D21 ARM Cortex-M0+ processor is now available from Farnell element14. The SAM D family is designed for easy migration within the Atmel MCU portfolio. It consists of four pin- and code-compatible product series and a total of 35 different microcontrollers. They all use the same processor, bus matrix, interrupt system and other core features. The main variations between each family member are in pin counts, memories and peripheral mix. It sets a new benchmark for flexibility and ease-of-use, while combining the performance and energy efficiency of an ARM Cortex-M0+ based MCU with an optimised architecture and peripheral set. Atmel | SMART SAM D products deliver a truly differentiated general-purpose microcontroller that is ideal for many low-power, cost-sensitive industrial and consumer applications, says the company.
