High-efficiency high-accuracy AC-input buck LED drivers

Diodes Inc.'s AL1678 universal AC-input (85 - 277VAC) buck LED drivers are now stocked by Mouser. The high-efficiency high-accuracy converters have an internal 500V MOSFET that works in conjunction with external components. This provides a low-cost bill of materials (BOM) solution, with no need for an auxiliary winding, says the company. The AL1678 topology provides accurate constant-current and good line and load regulation. They operate in boundary conduction mode (BCM), easing EMI/EMC qualification and testing to meet the latest regulatory requirements. The AL1678 includes many protection features to improve the system's safety and reliability. The thermal feedback function reduces the LED current when the driver's temperature is higher than a preset value. AL1678 come in an SO-7 package, which increases clearance between the Drain and CS pin. Applications include non-dimmable retrofit LED lamps, high-voltage DC-DC LED drivers, and general-purpose constant-current sources.
