This mini Manual Service Disconnect (Mini MSD), from Amphenol is for use in charging Plug In Hybrid Electric Vehicles (PHEV) and features a High Voltage Interlock Loop (HVIL). It is available now from RS Components. The plug features a two-stage lever to open the HVIL circuit prior to separation of HV contacts. The MSD presents a disconnect for internal high voltage battery packs without the need for specialist tools, while protecting the battery from short circuit. With a high degree of ingress protection, this device offers a safe and reliable solution for PHEV servicing. It presents a more compact and cost-effective alternative to the standard MSD.
