Hall effect sensors designed for linear position detection and current measurement applications

05-07-2017 | RS Components | Test & Measurement

Infineon linear Hall effect ICs, available now from RS Components, are designed for linear position detection and current measurement applications. The sensors may include features such as a ratiometric analogue output. They can be used for applications in linear and angular position sensing, battery management, electronic fuses and motor control. A range of integrated circuits from the company utilize the Hall Effect to implement non-contact switching and sensing functions. These ICs fall into three basic categories: linear sensors, switches, and latches. Linear sensors have a linear analogue output proportional to magnetic field strength while Hall effect switches and latches have a switching output and are activated by magnetic field proximity. Latching switches require a magnetic field of opposite polarity to respectively activate and deactivate the switched output. Hall effect switches are also available with two-wire current level operation.
