TDK Invensense ICP-10100 High Accuracy, Low Power, Waterproof Barometric Pressure and Temperature Sensor IC, available now from Mouser, are based on MEMS Capacitive Technology. This technology delivers ultra-low noise at very low power, enabling industry-leading sensor throughput, relative accuracy, and temperature stability. Measuring pressure variations with an accuracy of ±1Pa, the sensor has a high accuracy that enables altitude measurement differentials as small as 8.5cm. This is shorter than the height of a single stair step. The device is available in a small footprint 2mm x 2mm x 0.72mm and is waterproof to 1.5m depth in a 10-pin LGA package. Consuming only 1.3µA @ 1Hz, the small package size makes the device well-suited for wearable fitness monitoring, drones, mobile phones, and battery-powered IoT. Other features include an industry-leading temperature coefficient offset of ±0.5Pa/C and temperature range of -40C to 85C. High-performance barometric pressure sensing is facilitated through the combination of low power, high accuracy, temperature stability, and waterproofing in a small footprint. Typical applications include sports activity identification, mobile indoor/outdoor navigation, and altitude-hold in drones.
