SEGGER has introduced audio class support for emUSB-Device. Any audio application may now be realised with the help of the Embedded Experts. Common use cases are devices such as speakerphones, conferencing systems, headphones or USB-to-audio adapters. If the target device includes or joins to speakers, headsets, microphones, and/or musical instruments, the USB interface is frequently an ideal way to stream the audio data to or from the host.
The audio class is a component of the company's USB stack emUSB-Device. The class is a high-performance USB product stack especially designed for embedded systems. It operates on any microcontroller and is platform-independent. The flexible device stack allows the creation of multi-class devices utilising nearly any combination of the possible USB classes. The product provides classes for Mass Storage Device, CDROM, Media Transfer Protocol, Audio, CDC-ACM (Serial port communication), Human Interface Device, IP-over-USB, and printers. It includes a sophisticated bulk communication class for delivering efficient, high-bandwidth peripherals. The emUSB-Device is fully compliant to the USB-standard.
