Available now from Mouser are the Sparkfun Electronics' GT-521F32 (SEN-14518) and GT-521F52 (SEN-14585) Fingerprint Scanner Modules. These devices are self-contained, turnkey solutions developed to be integrated into embedded applications incorporating a simple TTL UART interface. The modules do all of the heavy work behind reading and identifying the fingerprints with an onboard optical sensor and 32-bit Arm Cortex M3 processor.
These compact modules are created to wake upon touch, and are capable of 360-degree fingerprint recognition, and have a resolution of 450dpi. The scanners have a <0.001% false acceptance rate and a <0.1% false rejection rate.
The GT-521F32 (SEN-14518) variant can store 200 unique fingerprints, while the GT-521F52 (SEN-14585) can store up to 3000. Both modules have the same footprint and pinouts, enabling developers to simply customise installations to their requirements.
