New portable SSD is 4.9x faster than external HDDs

The Samsung Portable SSD T5 elevates data transfer speeds to the next level and unleashes a new experience in external storage. The device is available now from RS Components. With a durable and compact design and password protection, the drive is easy to carry and stores data securely. With the company's V-NAND flash memory and a USB 3.1 Gen 2 interface, the device offers transfer speeds of up to 540MB/s, which is up to 4.9x faster than external HDDs. Backups and transfers of large-sized data such as 4K videos and high-resolution photos will be much faster. The top to bottom metal design and rounded unibody fits comfortably in the palm of the hand. The drive comes in two distinct aluminium finishes - a blue for 250GB and 500GB models, and a deep black for 1TB and 2TB models. The device has no moving parts and a sturdy metal body, so it is claimed to be able to handle drops of up to two meters. The optional password protection with AES 256-bit hardware encryption keeps personal and private data more secure.
