New high brightness purple LED offers greater flexibility for designers

OMC has launched a new high brightness purple surface-mount LED lamp highlighting the company’s proprietary Active Diffuser Technology, which delivers a far richer and more efficient output than conventional single-wavelength devices. The vibrant output and ease of driving of the new lamp makes it ideal for applications such as mood-lighting, backlighting, displays and status indication on front panels and keypads, and signalling and industrial electronics. The LPRM3268X3 LED needs very low current, has a compact footprint of only 3.2mm x 2.8mm x 1.9mm depth, with an industry-standard PLCC package. OMC’s commercial director, William Heath comments: “Our high output colour LED range with Active Diffuser Technology is a newer, more efficient approach to producing coloured LEDs. The addition of a rich purple LED to the line-up broadens the colour choice available to designers and is certain to help enhance product appearance.”
