Vishay Intertechnology has two new series of surface-mount automotive grade power LEDs in PLCC-2 and ultra-compact MiniLED packages. Using the latest advanced AllnGaP technology in what is claimed to be the smallest chip size available, the VLMx335xx and VLMx235xx series achieve high brightness and maximum drive current up to 50mA for automotive, industrial and consumer applications.
The AEC-Q101 qualified LEDs combine low thermal resistance down to 400K/W with power dissipation of 130mW, which in turn allows their high drive current. The small 2.3mm x 1.3mm x 1.4mm size of the VLMx235xx's MiniLED package and VLMx335xx's high luminous intensity to 1400mcd make them perfect for traffic signals and signs; automotive interior and exterior lighting; and indicators and backlighting for LCD switches, audio and video equipment, and symbols for general use.
Provided in super red, red, amber, soft orange, and yellow, the LEDs offer a lead-frame embedded in a white thermoplast, with an inside reflector filled with clear epoxy. The devices offer a ±60-degree angle of half-intensity, forward voltage down to 1.8V, and a luminous intensity ratio per packing unit of =1.6, and they are categorised, per packing unit, for luminous intensity and colour.
RoHS-compliant, halogen-free, and Vishay Green, the LEDs are available in 8mm tape, offer an ESD-withstand voltage up to 2kV in accordance with JESD22-A114-B, and are compatible with preconditioning according to JEDEC Level 2a.
