Vishay Intertechnology has a new AEC-Q200 qualified thick film power resistor offering a clip mount TO247 package for direct mounting on a heatsink. For automotive applications, the Vishay Sfernice LTO 150 provides industry-high power dissipation of 150W at a +45C case temperature and an enhanced pulse handling capability.
The device offers up to 70% higher power dissipation than other devices in the TO247 package. This lessens the need for components to cool the resistor, which saves board space, simplifying layouts, and reducing overall solution costs. These advantages are amplified by the device's 30% improvement in energy handling in comparison to similar TO247 devices, that enables designers to use fewer resistors.
Offering high-temperature operation to +175C and a wide range of resistance values from 0.03Ohm to 1.3MOhm, the device serves as the precharge or discharge resistor for inverters, converters, and on-board chargers for EV, HEV, and PHEV. It can also be applied in general industrial and defence power conversion applications. The RoHS-compliant device provides a non-inductive design, tolerances down to ±1%, and superior reliability test results.
