TDK Corporation has a new series of EPCOS MKP Y2 capacitors for EMI suppression. While conventional types are designed for rated voltages of 300VAC, these new capacitors provide a permissible rated voltage of 350VAC. The capacitances of the B3203 series range from 4.7nF to 1.2µF. Even under severe environmental conditions, the capacitors provide a stable capacitance value. They are certified to IEC 60384-14:2013/AMD1:2016 and classified in accordance with 'Grade III high robustness under high humidity Test B'. This is verified by temperature, humidity, bias (THB) test at 85C, 85% relative humidity and 350VAC operating voltage, at which a capacitance drop of no more than 10% may occur. The maximum operating temperature is 110C.
The typical applications of the new capacitors include EMI suppression in filters that are subjected to severe environment conditions and need higher rated voltages, such as those in photovoltaic inverters or automotive applications.
