Space-saving GDT in one innovative hybrid device

Bourns Hybrid GMOV Components integrate Bourns patented, space-saving gas discharge tube (GDT) with FLAT technology and their high-quality MOV technology in one innovative hybrid device. This device is available now from Mouser. These varistors offer longer life, higher reliable overvoltage protection, and give higher levels of safety against extended voltage threats compared to MOVs alone. The series lessens the likelihood of degradation and catastrophic failure from transient surges or temporary overvoltage conditions exceeding a MOV’s maximum rated value. The series is a simple drop-in replacement and is provided in 14mm and 20mm size standard MOV packages. The device is UL 1449 Type 5 rated and RoHS compliant. Typical applications include AC Line Protection in white goods, power line communications, smoke alarm systems, high-value consumer goods; and DC Line Protection in solar inverters, power supplies, and distribution systems.
