New wide operating temperature crystal oscillators available now

Mercury Electronics Europe has a new range of wide operating temperature crystal oscillators that are excellent for use in automotive applications. The new surface mount HY series provides 15pF load LVCMOS output at frequencies from 1.25MHz to 50MHz over the temperature range -40C to +125C with a selection of frequency stability of ±50ppm and ±100ppm. Frequency stability of ±25ppm is also offered over commercial (-10C to +70C) and industrial (-40C to +85C) ranges. The company can also offer non-standard frequency stability specifications if needed, e.g. ±20ppm or ±30ppm.

Providing superior phase noise characteristics of -155dBc/Hz at 10kHz and -160dBc/Hz at 100kHz offset, the new oscillators are provided in three package sizes 3.2mm x 2.5mm x1mm, 5mm x 3.2mm x 1.2mm and 7mm x 5mm x 1.4mm. Supply voltages for these are 1.8V, 2.5V and 3.3V respectively and typical current consumption is 2mA to 4mA from 1.25MHz to 19.99MHz and 4mA to 6mA from 20MHz to 50MHz depending on package size.

RMS phase jitter is 150fs typical (12kHz to 20MHz integrated). Specifications comprise ageing of ±2ppm/year maximum for the first year, start-up time of 5ms maximum, rise/fall time of 10ns maximum and duty cycle (symmetry) of 50% ±10% typical with ±5% offered as an option.
