New wideband amplifier for 5G test and measurement applications

MACOM Technology Solutions has released the new MAAM-011238 wideband distributed amplifier, provided in both bare-DIE and Surface Mount packaged formats. Ideal for use in 5G test and measurement equipment, the device provides system designers with the skill to leverage a single amplifier for 5G applications spanning sub-6 GHz to mmW frequencies.

The amplifier supports wideband operation from 100kHz up to 50GHz (67.5GHz for the Bare-DIE version) with a typical gain of 14dB at 30GHz. The input and output are fully matched at 50Ohm with a typical return loss of 10dB across the band. The overall ease of use for customers is improved employing a positive gate bias, through removing the requirement for a negative voltage supply and bias sequencer. The device’s integrated power detector further simplifies system designs while saving valuable board space.

The device aims to provide an effective broadband amplifier solution for 5G sub-6GHz to mmW testing.
