Robust SMD design uses hybrid polymer technology

TDK Corporation has increased its line of hybrid polymer aluminium electrolytic capacitors with a new SMD series. The components are now offered in 25VDC/330µF and 35VDC/270µF versions, each with dimensions of 10mm x 10.2mm (d x l). The capacitors, which are RoHS-compatible and qualified to AEC-Q200, are created for a maximum operating temperature of 125C and offer a long service life of at least 4000 hours.

Two electrical parameters, in particular, characterise the compact capacitors: their extremely low ESR value of ≤20mOhm and the high ripple current capability of 2.8A at 125C and 100kHz. These great values are made possible by the hybrid polymer technology.

As well as automotive electronic control units, the capacitors with the ordering codes B40900B5337M000 (330µF) and B40900B7277M000 (270µF) can also be employed in industrial applications.

The new series supplements the world's first axial hybrid polymer aluminium electrolytic capacitors. These capacitors with dimensions of between 14mm x 25mm and 16mm x 30mm (d x l) are designed for rated voltages of 25V, 35V or 63V and provide capacitance values from 390 to 2100µF. Notwithstanding their low weight and volume, they provide a very high current capability for automotive power modules.

Main uses include automotive electronic control units and industrial applications.
