New GaN adapters offer large size reduction

CUI Inc has added two GaN desktop AC/DC power supply series to its SDI product family. The SDI160G-U and SDI160G-UD provide 160W of continuous power from a compact desktop package. These AC/DC supplies have been created for an extensive variety of portable industrial and consumer products, where efficient power is required in a lighter and smaller adapter package, reduced by 48%.

The devices comply with UL/EN/IEC 62368-1 demands. The adapters also satisfy the current average efficiency and no-load power specifications mandated by the US Department of Energy under the Level VI standard and the European Union’s CoC Tier 2 directive for universal input voltage ranges; with up to a 200% increase in power density, no-load power consumption as low as 150mW, and universal input voltage ranges of 90-264VAC.

The SDI160G-U series provides a three-prong (C14) inlet, while the SDI160G-UD offers a two-prong (C8) inlet. Measuring 6.33" x 2.13" x 1.3" (161mm x 54.2mm x 33.2mm.), the compact new models are 48% smaller than the non-GaN models.
