Power film and chip film capacitors for commercial and automotive industry

AVX Medium Power film capacitors include a dry segmented and non-segmented metallised polypropylene or polyester dielectric. The segmentation gives controlled self-healing, created to produce very high dielectric strength and avoid catastrophic failure.

With its controlled self-healing technology, the segmented capacitors include several million elements, each protected by 'fuse gates'. During operation, any dielectric breakdown becomes insulated locally, minimising the risk of short circuit and the capacitor continues functioning normally.

Applications range from DC filtering, semiconductor protection and tuning, to discharge and high energy storage.
