Automotive grade LAN transformers offer PCB layout flexibility

Bourns 53229A-381N7Y Automotive Grade 10/100/1000 Base-T Chip LAN Transformers, available now from Mouser, are IEEE 802.3 Ethernet compatible network transformers. Unlike traditional LAN transformers made using multiple toroidal core transformers and common mode chokes, the transformers use a discrete, centre-tapped component wound on a drum core. This design feature allows the transformers to emulate the result of a toroid core with a closed magnetic path, with the added benefit of a high degree of PCB layout flexibility.

The devices feature pairing common mode chokes for EMI reduction and a -40C to +105C temperature range. The devices are RoHS compliant, halogen-free and AEC-Q200 compliant.

Typical application areas include Ethernet, telecommunication, and network devices.
