Highly integrated IC solution for USB Type-C and USB PD

Mouser offers the InnoSwitch3-PD family of ICs from Power Integrations. This breakthrough innovation from the company gives engineers a highly integrated solution for USB Type-C, USB PD, and USB PPS adapters for laptops, tablets, cell phones, and more.

The ICs include primary switch and controller, isolated feedback, secondary control, and USB-PD controller functions into a single compact package. Using its patented PowiGaN technology, the ICs’ real-time telemetry power supply status and fault monitoring, together with FluxLink high-speed communications feedback link, delivers fast and accurate secondary side regulation.

The ICs deliver low heat dissipation, eradicating the necessity for bulky heat sinks and decreasing component counts. The ICs are also completely protected with input voltage monitoring, accurate brown-in/brown-out protection, and independently configurable output over- and undervoltage fault detection.

The ICs are supported by the company's RDK-838 Reference Design Kit, also available from Mouser. The kit features a 60W USB PD 3.0 power supply with 3.3V to 21V PPS output using the onboard InnoSwitch3-PD IC.
