Mouser now stocks the HVMA03F4A-LP8S gate driver transformer from Bourns. This low-profile, high-creepage isolation transformer delivers a switching frequency of 400kHz while delivering an output power of 2W. The transformer is an excellent fit for designs needing high isolation voltage and can be combined with many gate driver controller ICs (with either fixed or variable frequencies), offering customisation for other output voltages and applications.
The device is a compact flyback transformer engineered to support high-power density designs for greater efficiency. The device operates from a typical 12V supply with an extended input voltage range of 10V to 24V. The new mechanical design of the coil in this transformer also increases system performance and safety. The optimised feature set makes it perfect for use with SiC, IGBT and GaN switching elements in various automotive, industrial, and energy storage applications.
The series flyback transformer is fabricated with a centre-tapped output that produces a ±5V supply to allow the biasing of gate drive activation and deactivation circuits. The transformer provides a maximum operating voltage of 800VDC, is AEC-Q200 automotive-grade compliant and includes a fundamental insulation layer that meets IEC 60664-1 standards. The device offers an 8mm creepage and 2mm clearance with a Hi-Pot isolation voltage of up to 2750VAC. The creepage distance combined with the 800V working voltage makes these transformers ideal for new EVs and green energy applications demanding high isolation voltage.
The Bourns HVMA03F4A-LP8S transformer provides a compact SMT package unique for its large working voltage capabilities. It is ROHS and REACH compliant and specified over an extended operating temperature range of -40C to +125C to meet AEC-Q200 standards.
