Inelco Hunter has announced the extended availability of Amphenol's Amphe-PRB series connectors. The new connectors are a versatile solution for one-, two-, or three-phase applications, housing up to five contacts. The connectors also feature a dedicated ground contact. The series connectors are suited to industries such as alternative energy, telecommunications, and anything powered by electric motors, including EVs and HEVs.

Though durable and reliable, conventional metallic circular connectors often do not meet the economic prerequisites. The series provides an innovative alternative, providing a lightweight thermoplastic design, making it durable and cost-effective. The thermoplastic shell is UL F1-rated for outdoor use, supplying excellent resistance to ultraviolet light, water exposure and immersion. These features make the connectors ideal for usage in challenging environments where ruggedness and reliability are paramount. Created to bridge the gap between performance and cost, the connectors provide an affordable solution without compromising on quality.

Safety is a top priority with the connector, as it is designed to be touch-proof. Its rugged construction ensures durability and the ability to withstand exposure to moisture, supplying an impressive IP67 rating. The series excels in field installations, providing crimp and set screw terminations using standard contacts.

One of its most notable characteristics is the quick positive coupling facilitated by its reverse bayonet design. This feature permits a secure connection that decreases installation time, making ensuring a solid, stable connection in high-vibration environments easier. Also, the connectors are rated to withstand shocks and vibrations up to 15g, which is vital for applications where consistent connectivity is essential, such as in industrial automation and heavy equipment.

The Amphe-PRB series provides an ingress protection rating of IP67, ensuring that the connectors are fully protected from dust and can withstand immersion in up to one metre of water for 30 minutes. This makes the connector an excellent choice for outdoor and harsh environment applications. They are also UV-resistant and meet the UL F1 standard for UV degradation resistance, which is vital for components exposed to outdoor conditions.

Specifications include reverse bayonet couplings, an operating voltage of 600VAC Max, a current rating of 46A to 60A, IP2X touch-proof contacts, and crimp termination. Certifications include UL94-V0; the wire size is 8AWG to 6AWG (8-16mm²).
