Sealed ultra subminiature switch range expands with UL-approved variants

17-02-2025 | Omron | Automotive & Transport

Omron Electronic Components Europe has widened its D2EW range of sealed ultra subminiature basic switches with the introduction of 14 new UL models. The UL certification confirms that an independent third party has thoroughly tested the new variants and fulfils or exceeds all applicable safety requirements.

The switch range has been engineered to improve flexibility in design for equipment designers and builders. Its compact dimensions (8.3mm x 7mm x 5.3mm) make it one of the smallest switch families available while delivering high performance and reliability. A minimum applicable load of 50μA contributes to energy saving. The switches’ IP67 protection (excluding terminals on terminal models) and high-temperature durability up to +85C render it suited to environments requiring waterproof or dustproof components such as outdoor applications. Its small size makes it excellent for electronic devices where maximising space without compromising performance and reliability is a high priority for designers.

The switches’ unique pin plunger shape facilitates multi-angle 90° operation from vertically or horizontally without the necessity for a lever, reducing space needs. The switch has a sliding contact structure, providing reliable contact with quiet operation. Variants are obtainable with short or long press-fit terminals, straight PCB terminals, solder terminals, and moulded lead wires in a range of configurations. A wide range of variants are also available with colour-coded caps, together with left-right asymmetrical post and slot designs to stop incorrect assembly.
