Hirose Electric has released one of the industry’s smallest back-flip FPC connectors for automotive and other harsh-environment applications. With a low profile of 1.2mm and a space-saving 0.3mm pitch (0.6mm mounting pitch), the FH79 Series provides a reduction in width of approximately 40% compared to standard 0.5mm pitch connectors. The high-density connector uses a dual contact system (top and bottom contacts) and a staggered contact array design to maximise space efficiency and lower the connector footprint.
Designed for harsh environment applications, including automotive, the FH79 Series is heat resistant up to 125℃. The back-flip design provides high contact reliability, preventing actuator opening with upward FPC routing.
The connectors support high-speed transmission eDP ver1.3 and MIPI D-PHY ver2.1 standards, making them ideal for digitising automotive, construction, and agricultural equipment.
“The implementation of digitisation and feature-rich systems in automotive, construction and agricultural vehicles has raised demand for space-saving wiring solutions. The FH79 Series not only contributes to miniaturisation but also enhances board design flexibility and simplifies assembly,” said Pete Lais, assistant vice president of Product Management for Hirose Electric Americas.”
The FH79 Series is commonly used in automotive entertainment, robotics/factory automation, LiDAR, and sensing cameras, ensuring stable, high-speed connectivity.
The series is currently available in a 61-position version, with 11, 21, 31, 41 and 51 positions under development.
