The Wireless Multi Instrument Synchronization Module type WCMI-8 from TiePie engineering is the world's first module to wirelessly synchronise multiple oscilloscopes over a distance of up to 400m and combine them into a single instrument. The WiFiScope and Handyscope series 5 and 6 instruments are ideal for use with the WCMI-8 module. The module is placed on the extension connector at the rear of each oscilloscope, and the Multi-Channel oscilloscope software automatically detects how many instruments are equipped with a WCMI-8 module. All detected oscilloscopes, connected through WiFi, LAN or USB, are combined into one single oscilloscope with a total number of channels that equals the sum of the detected oscilloscopes' channels. The module has an internal automatic time synchronisation system that ensures that all sample locks of the oscilloscopes are synchronised. When a trigger ensues on one of the selected channels, all oscilloscopes will be triggered simultaneously, and all signals will be synchronously visible on the display.
The modules can be used indoors and in the open field. With the built-in RSSI meter, the receiving signal strength of each module can be checked.
When synchronous measurements are needed at multiple locations up to several hundred metres apart or fully galvanically isolated from the computer and each other, the module, in combination with a company's oscilloscope, provides the needed solution. The module supports high-speed sampling at 100MSa/s and 16-bit high-resolution measuring. No long cabling is necessary between the scopes and the computer, and no complicated setup is required, resulting in a simple and hassle-free installation.
