High robustness and easy-to-inspect microSD card connector

The ST12 Push-Push microSD card connector from JAE is a new addition to the Rutronik portfolio. This series makes its inspection and repair simpler by using external SMT leads, which are visible and easily accessible. Also, the mechanical locking structure with 'stopper' and 'lock' components prevents the dislodgement of cards due to vibration or physical shock, and the multiple hold-downs provide secure connector retention to the PCB – and stable data transmission – even under harsh conditions. The components also impress with their ease of use and have a switch for detecting card insertion. They are appropriate for various applications, including smartphones, drones, action cameras, and other small portable electronic devices.

The slot has a push-push connector for microSD cards. These are compatible with UHS-I, feature ten contacts with an initial contact resistance of up to 100mOhm and are 1.4mm x 14.6mm x 15.3mm in size. They have a dielectric strength of 500Vrms for up to one minute and an initial insulation resistance of at least 1000MOhm.

The series enables up to 10,000 mating cycles and operating temperatures of -25C to +85C. The area of the soldering terminals is located outside of the connector housing to allow easy inspection and repair.

The connectors offer usability with 0.7mm push stroke and a 3.8mm card eject length. The strong mechanical locking structure retains the card during use.

Application examples include smartphones, tablet PCs, drones, action cams, gaming terminals, notebook PCs, and AR/VR headsets.
