Azumo, the reflective display technology company, introduced a new 3.4" colour MIP reflective module to its product line. Its LCD 2.0 front light technology makes it possible to make the 272 x 451-pixel display one of the highest-resolution colour MIP reflective LCDs of its size. It combines outdoor recreation, mobile POS, and industrial applications.
Device manufacturers looking for durable, colour displays have been restricted to backlit LCDs, which drain batteries and are challenging to read in bright outdoor environments. Its reflective LCD is ten times more energy efficient than traditional backlit LCDs and readable in bright sun and complete darkness. Further, the new module integrates the company's next-generation light guide film allowing cover lens bonding and touch panel integration, opening up a new segment of applications that require better reliability and visual quality.
"The rise of connected devices sparked demand for more durable, energy-efficient displays," said Mike Casper, CEO and founder of Azumo. "Products that haven't traditionally had screens now do, and they need displays that work in the real world. To meet that need, we leveraged our LCD 2.0 technology into an ultra-thin 3.4" module that doesn't drain battery and is visible in all lighting conditions."
The benefits of the Azumo 3.4" MIP reflective LCD module include 90% less energy use. With just one low-power LED, the module uses substantially lower energy than conventional BLU LCDs and extends the device battery life. It offers a high-resolution display of images and data. At 272 x 451 pixels, the module supplies crisp detail as one of its size's highest-resolution colour MIP reflective LCDs. Consistent readability in all lighting conditions. The module leverages LCD 2.0 front-light panel technology with a reflective LCD to create a consistent contrast ratio in all types of light. Improved colour saturation. Each pixel comprises an R/G/B strip, and the integrated front light supplies 64 colours and better NTSC colour saturation than competing MIP displays. The module's three-wire SPI interface at 7MHz paired with a six-millisecond response time enables animations. It also offers a bondable cover lens and a touch panel. The display can be customised still further for increased durability and accessibility in wide-ranging conditions.
