Moulded SMD wire wounds offer power ratings up to 4W

High-power applications needing resistors with power ratings above 1W can be difficult. For ceramic-based chip resistors, this typically requires chip sizes of 2010 or larger, which are liable to cracking and solder joint failure.

Stackpole Electronics' SM Series of surface mount moulded wire wounds provide power ratings from 2W to 4W with compliant terminations that eradicate these issues. In addition, this series of wire wound elements deliver superior pulse and overload handling compared to film-based chip resistors.

The series' robust electrical and environmental performance is excellent for industrial applications, machine automation and control, power supply and motor control, traffic control, and safety and security systems.
