Latest from Integrated Device Technology (IDT) is news of the expansion of
its comprehensive timing portfolio with the introduction of two new families
of crystal oscillators. The IDT XU and XL families offer unparalleled
features and flexibility at an industry-leading price / performance ratio.
The high-performance, low-phase jitter crystal oscillators are customizable
for frequencies from 16kHz to 1.5GHz, with 300 fs RMS phase jitter, and are
available in HCMOS, LVPECL, LVDS, and HCSL outputs.
To shorten time to market, IDT is offering fast delivery of its
custom-frequency oscillators. Engineers used to waiting up to months from
other vendors can expect to receive the new IDT crystal oscillators in two
weeks or less, says the company.
“The XU and XL crystal oscillators are IDT’s response to the increasingly
stringent jitter requirements resulting from higher data throughput in
serial IO technologies,” said Dave Shepard, vice president and general
manager Timing and RF Division, IDT. “Our new oscillators offer designers a
reliable and economical solution to address the growing challenges of
frequency control.”
The devices feature a typical jitter value of 300fs RMS with a maximum value
of 400fs, integrated over 12kHz to 20MHz. They are particularly suitable for
such applications as networking, communications, data I/O, storage and
servers.
The XU and XL families deliver varying throughput speeds to match the
requirements of individual designs. The XU family is offered in LVPECL,
LVDS, HCSL and HCMOS versions, with operating voltages of 3.3V, 2.5V or
1.8V. The devices offer frequency stabilities as low as +/-20 ppm with a
temperature range as wide as -40C to 85C in industry standard packages of
7mm x 5 mm and 5mm x 3.2mm.
