Semtech has unveiled the SC724/5/8/9 Series of 2A load switches in a tiny
0.76mm x 0.76mm, 4-bump chip scale package (CSP) with industry leading
on-resistance (Ron) of just 36mohm.
The SC724/5/8/9 switches offer a 2A, 1.1V to 3.6V power rail with controlled
turn-on and turn-off profiles. The SC724 and SC728 provide fast turn-on
(19.5µs at 1.8Vin) and float the output when disabled, while the SC725 and
SC729 provide slower turn-on (490µs at 1.8Vin) and discharge the output when
disabled. The load switches are ESD hardened to greater than 3kV for robust
circuit protection, says the company.
"The SC72X load switch family enables tiny circuit footprints and increases
performance for high 2A current, low 36mohm Ron, and extensive protection,"
said Andy Khayat, Senior Director for Consumer Power in Semtech's Power
Management Products Group. “Semtech's customers can now achieve super small
designs with extended battery life and high reliability."
Portable applications include wearable electronics, video cameras, smart
phones and tablet computers. Non-portable applications include HDTVs,
set-top boxes and networking devices.
