Vishay has introduced a new automotive-grade IHLP low-profile, high-current inductor in the 4040 case size featuring an industry-high continuous operating temperature range to +180C. Offering a low profile of 4.0 mm, the Vishay Dale IHLP-4040DZ-8A provides a wide range of inductance values from 0.47µH to 47µH. With a frequency range up to 1 MHz, the AEC-Q200-qualified device released today serves as a high-performing, space- and power-saving solution for voltage regulator modules (VRM), high-current noise filters, and DC/DC converters in high-temperature automotive applications. End products include engine and transmission control units, diesel injection drivers, entertainment and navigation systems, noise suppression for motors, windshield wipers, HID and LED lighting, heating and ventilation blowers, and power seats and mirrors. The IHLP-4040DZ-8A handles high transient current spikes without hard saturation. Packaged in a 100 % lead (Pb)-free shielded, composite construction that reduces buzz noise to ultra-low levels, the device is specified for an operating temperature range of 55 °C to +180 °C, with high resistance to thermal shock, moisture, mechanical shock, and vibration. The inductor is RoHS-compliant and halogen-free, says the company.
