A new high-performance 3.5-inch TFT display, the Rugged+ TX09D200VM0BAA has
been introduced by KOE. The display features a 3:4 aspect ratio, QVGA (240
x 320 pixels) resolution and IPS (in-plane switching) technology to provide
highly-consistent colour and image performance from all viewing angles.
The Rugged+ modules provide reliable and consistent operation under the
severe and rigorous conditions found in harsh environment and industrial
applications yet deliver high optical performance. The use of IPS technology
enables exceptional colour saturation, deep black levels and viewing angles
of up to 170 degrees in all directions (left/right, up/down).
A contrast ratio of 900:1 and a backlight brightness rating of 600cd/m²
ensure high quality and consistent colour image reproduction. The white LED
backlight provides a specified 70K hours to 50% brightness lifetime. A
50-pin CMOS interface supports 8-bit RGB data which enables a colour palette
of up to 16.7 million colours, says the company.
Mark Stephenson, technical marketing manager, KOE Europe, said, "The new
3.5-inch Rugged+ portrait mode display is the ideal solution for a wide
range of applications. Static or handheld electronic systems and equipment
can benefit from the strong optical performance of the display module. The
display panel, can if required, be used in either landscape or portrait mode
which creates opportunities for new design implementations."
Featuring a fully enclosed metal bezel with integrated mounting fixtures,
the 3.5-inch display module has mechanical outline dimensions of 65.7mm (w)
x 88.8mm (h) x 9.95mm (d) and an active display area of 53.28mm (w) x
71.04mm (h). Operation in extreme temperature environments is guaranteed
with an operating temperature range of -30C to +85C and storage temperature
range of -40C to +90C. The Rugged+ module has also been designed to be
highly resistant to ESD, mechanical shock and vibration. The compact
3.5-inch display module weighs just 72g.
Applications include high-reliability industrial, medical, marine,
automotive and aerospace applications where consistent and assured operation
under extreme temperature, mechanical shock and vibration is a necessity.
