Quanta Computer, Celeno Communications and Imagination Technologies (IMG.L),
have partnered to create an end-to-end WebRTC-enabled IP camera that allows
OEMs and service providers deliver their own branded solution for video
conferencing, home surveillance and other applications.
The joint solution is available from Quanta as a white-label IP camera, or
as a camera module for integration into OEM products such as TVs. It
includes a browser application, mobile application, embedded software and
cloud services on top of a full HD 1080p camera.
The Quanta WebRTC IP camera includes Celeno's 802.11ac Wi-Fi System on Chip
(SoC) along with its OptimizAIR 2.0 technology, and leverages Imagination's
MIPS CPU, ClearMediaRTC media engine, FlowTalk application and FlowCloud
service.
The communications in the WebRTC IP camera are enabled by WebRTC for a rich,
web-based Real-Time Communications (RTC) experience. With the new camera,
companies can provide a branded plug-and-play solution that enables
consumers to quickly, easily and affordably set up, and immediately begin to
stream live video over Wi-Fi, while engaging in two-way audio
communications. The camera includes features such as remote control, motion
detection, infrared capability, alerts and more, with controls accessible
via an Android or iOS app on a smartphone or tablet.
"We are pleased to introduce the world's first WebRTC-enabled total
VP8+H.264 IP camera solution," said Jammy Huang, associate vice president,
Quanta Computer, "With this camera, we're enabling maximum deployment
flexibility, providing OEMs and service providers with an affordable
solution that they can immediately roll out to customers for innovative
surveillance and videoconferencing applications. We've partnered with Celeno
and Imagination to ensure that the Wi-Fi, VoIP and cloud technologies are
all of the highest possible quality."
Celeno's 802.11ac Wi-Fi SoC delivers the increased coverage and high
throughput performance required for high quality video and media
applications in the home and has been pre-integrated with the camera. The
chipset incorporates a MIPS CPU from Imagination for efficient applications
processing. In addition, Celeno's OptimizAIR 2.0 implements a unique Quality
of Service scheme to dynamically allocate the required capacity in the air
for HD video streaming and even to guarantee and enforce available Wi-Fi
capacity in the air for the home security Wi-Fi sub-network, guaranteeing an
uninterrupted, flicker-free HD surveillance service.
Gilad Rozen, CEO, Celeno, said: "The demand for a high-quality wireless
video experience in the home is growing exponentially - whether for video
streaming, video conferencing or home monitoring - which places a
substantial burden on wireless networks that are ill-equipped to deal with
such bandwidth-heavy applications. We're delighted to work with Quanta and
Imagination to offer a combined solution that gives operators and OEMs what
they need to deliver seamless and reliable home security and automation
services to consumers with a high quality, flicker-free wireless HD camera."
Imagination's ClearMediaRTC media engine enables the high-quality video
streaming and 2-way audio communications embedded in the camera. Adaptive
network bandwidth management and unique, proven algorithms provide enhanced
voice and video quality for a superior user experience across browser-based
and mobile platforms. To round out the solution, Imagination provides the
WebRTC browser application and FlowTalk Android/iOS mobile application. In
addition, Imagination's FlowCloud technology enables cloud services such as
device authentication and secure recording/storage of video and audio
streams.
Krishna Raghavan, vice president, FlowTalk business operations, Imagination,
added: "Building on the success of Imagination's VoIP clients which have
shipped in millions of devices worldwide, this camera is a showcase for our
new ClearMediaRTC media engine and FlowCloud services and related
applications. The combination of these technologies with those of Quanta and
Celeno lets OEMs and service providers provide the highest quality WebRTC
experience to consumers - all on a MIPS-based platform."
The end-to-end white-label Quanta IP camera and camera module solutions,
which include the Celeno chipset and leverage Imagination's ClearMediaRTC
media engine and FlowCloud technology, are available now from Quanta, says
the company.
