Compact thick-film chip resistor series delivers voltages up to 500V

Designed to meet the demand for high voltages in industrial and medical applications while saving valuable PCB space, a new series of thick-film chip resistors has been introduced by Vishay. The RCV e3 Series devices offer high limiting element voltages of 400V and 500V in the compact 0805 and 1206 case sizes, respectively.
With their high voltages, the resistors can replace multiple standard devices of the same size to save placement cost and board space in power supplies, battery chargers, vacuum tubes, and converters. The RCV0805 e3 and RCV1206 e3 feature operating voltages of 400V and 500V, respectively; power ratings of 0.125W and 0.25W; insulation voltage > 500V; and high-temperature operation to +155C. The devices offer tolerances of 1% and 5%, TCR of ± 100ppm/K and ± 200ppm/K, and a resistance range from 100kohm to 10Mohm.
RCV e3 series resistors feature a protective metal glaze layout suitable for high-voltage operation on high-quality ceramic, and pure tin solder contacts on a nickel barrier layer for compatibility with lead (Pb)-free and lead-containing soldering processes. The devices are compliant to RoHS directive 2011/65/EU and halogen-free according to the JEDEC JS709A definition.
Samples and production quantities of the RCV e3 resistors are available now, says the company.
