Wire-to-board connectors offer wide-variety of mating configurations

Versatile Molex SPOX wire-to-board connectors are now available from Digi-Key. The interconnects offer an extremely wide-variety of mating configurations for pitch sizes from 2.5mm to 5.08mm. The name SPOX comes from the shape of the terminal, which is like a 'spring box'. This design style provides multiple points of contact, protects the mating interface area, and prevents fish-hooking from wires during handling. SPOX BMI connectors offer self-aligning features, a current rating up to 3A and a pitch size of 2.54mm. This is one of the smallest blind-mate packages available for wire-to-wire and wire-to-board applications. The novel low-profile design of the SPOX Blind-Mate Interface (BMI) allows for a mated stack distance of only 11mm. Utilizing proven SPOX-style contacts for high-reliability, the products are suitable for situations requiring highly-reliable tin interfaces. The unique dual-row panel-mounting design provides rugged support for blind-mating applications and permits up to 3mm of misalignment between connectors prior to engagement. Multiple pin counts permit design flexibility and provide for both power and signal circuitry. The dual-row 2.5mm products are not inter-mateable with the conventional single-row 2.5mm products, says the company.
